Очередной выпуск журнала, посвященного изучению античности и классической традиции во всех ее разнообразных аспектах, подготовлен специально для участников долгосрочного проекта «Преподавая античность. Фундаментальные ценности в изменяющемся мире», проведение которого оказалось возможным благодаря Программе поддержки высшего образования Института «Открытое общество» (Будапешт). В выпуск вошло шесть статей по истории античной философии и науки, а также новые переводы: руководство Теона Смирнского (II в. н. э.) по арифметике, музыке и астрономии («Изложение предметов, полезных для изучения Платона») и комментированный перевод сохранившихся фрагментов античного натурфилософа Диогена из Аполлонии (ок. 440–430 гг. до н. э.). This issue of the journal of the Centre for Ancient Philosophy and the Classical Tradition, prepared for the participants of a long-term project “Teaching Classics. Fundamental Values in the Changing World”, is generously sponsored by the Higher Education Support Program of the “Open Society Institute” (Budapest), and dedicated to study of the ancient philosophical tradition and the tradition of classical education in the context of contemporary concepts of values. The issue contains six original articles on the history of ancient science and philosophy, and Russian translations of an introductory manual by Theon of Smyrna (ca. 70–ca. 135), a Greek mathematician, strongly influenced by the Neo-Pythagorean school of thought, and a collection of fragments and testimonia attesting life and works of Diogenes of Apollonia, the “last Presocratic cosmologist” (fl. 440–430 B.
