In this article, the category “culture of intonation” is subject to comprehensive consideration. The authors focus their attention on various aspects of the performing process that determine the essence of the category under consideration as a skill. Based on the analysis, the authors come to the conclusion that the culture of intonation is an individual phenomenon, however, this phenomenon can also be considered as a key element of artistic technique, built in the performing process of a saxophonist as a result of the interaction of the following components: high culture of musical auditory, figurative artistic perceptions and ideas; creative freedom and a high level of control of gaming movements (fingers, lips, tongue, respiratory muscles); stable skills in sound production, sound production and timbre formation; culture of stroke and thinning of sound; rich thesaurus and musical thinking. The upbringing of a saxophonist as a creative personality of a new generation can only be achieved if a number of conditions are met that ensure the formation of such interdependent aspects of the musician’s performing professionalism as individual performing technique, the emotional and intellectual sphere of thinking and perception, the culture of intonation, which, in turn, must organically enter into modern saxophone pedagogy.
