The relevance of studying the phenomena of self-actualization, selfunderstanding and self-development is determined by their influence on the processes of democratization and humanization of educational policy at the current stage of social development. Taking into account the above, we have systematized the key aspects of the existential and humanistic educational impact on the phenomenon of “self's necessity” in the process of teaching youth. In the process of analysis, we have established that the existential and humanistic paradigm is a methodological basis for the theory and practice of education, which is focused on the development of the personality of student as a subject of self-understanding, awareness of the value of his own experience and development of humanitarian culture. The article also reveals the terminological essence of the phenomenon of “self's necessity”, and the principles of existential and humanistic educational impact, which should guide teachers in the process of teaching the future generation. Special attention is paid to the psychological and pedagogical approaches that allow developing “the self's necessity” of students in the learning process.
