The article examines various aspects of the philosophy of freedom, which F. M. Dostoevsky considered the most significant in understanding the mystery of man and which he developed throughout his creative life. Based on the analysis of fiction and journalistic works, the existential-dialectical approach of the writer to the named topic is revealed. It is shown that the focus of his attention has always been the danger of substituting freedom for spiritual slavery - both in the field of global social projects and in the inner world of a person (intellectual, psychological and spiritual spheres). It is concluded that Dostoevsky sees the resolution of complex contradictions in the problems of freedom and the right direction on the path to achieving it only in the field of the Christian worldview, in those transcendental guidelines that are given in the patristic church tradition.
