The article considers methods and tools for financial support of innovation activities of the largest Russian companies in the oil and gas industry. The dynamics of their expenditures on R&d and the level of its economic performance are analyzed. Based on this work, effective measures to optimize and improve the innovative activities of Russian oil and gas companies are proposed.
