Development of students’ global competencies at English lessons

The article is devoted to the development of students’ global competence at English lessons, defines the concepts of “functional literacy” and “global competence”. Using the example of a mini-course for the learning and teaching support kit “Lake Baikal Box: A Toolkit for Primary and Middle Grade Students” we have shown the importance of using non-standard lessons for compliance with the requirements of a new education standard. Group projects allow us to increase the motivation of students and effectively solve global problems. The article focuses on the development of global competencies at foreign language lessons, which allow revealing any topic through communicative exercises and expressing a personal attitude to the issue under consideration. We present assessment criteria that help the teacher analyzing the tasks and selecting the best for further educational activities.
