The paper discusses the problem of rising the interest in the Russian language as a school subject for younger students. It is argued that the novelty of the content of the subject, which usually favors the awakening and maintaining the interest of students in it, is less pronounced in Russian language than in other disciplines since schoolchildren already successfully use the Russian language in everyday life. The results of the study are presented, which show an increase in the number of students with a high and medium level of interest in the Russian language in the experimental group, in the educational process of which the training exercises developed by the author were used. The results of studying the attractiveness of certain exercises are of particular interest. So, for primary school students, the structure of the text of the assignment, its content and volume are important, they give preference to exercises in the form of a coherent text. Work with individual sentences, separate words and phrases is of interest only under certain conditions. The novelty of the study lies in the author’s development of a system of training exercises that contain elements of search work and problems, the implementation of which requires reliance on linguistic instinct, a large share of independence, the intense mental activity of students, as well as the use of information and communication technologies.
