Being in a situation, the difficulty of which is determined subjectively, a person seeks to use internal resources and find a way out. The paper analyzes the results of an experimental study of the formation of constructive strategies aimed at overcoming difficult life situations of an individual at the initial stage of obtaining higher education. The ideas about the variability of strategies coping with difficult life situations have been supplemented. The psychological and educational possibilities of using the methods of coping in the conditions of specially organized influence are considered. The necessity of taking into account the personal characteristics of students in the process of forming constructive coping strategies is substantiated. It is proved that a specially designed program for the development of conscious readiness to choose coping strategies provides an increase in the level of meaningfulness of made decisions and awareness of alternative behavior. The enrichment of life experience in specially organized conditions contributes to the development of freshmen’s conscious readiness to choose constructive coping strategies in difficult life situations.
