The current socio-educational situation, which has recently developed in the general education schools of our country, is associated with a large inflow of migrants and the realization of their right to education. The relevance of the research topic is due to the need to create a systematic approach in the education of schoolchildren, who do not have the Russian language as their native one. Moreover, it is due to the development of an intensive methodology for the formation of cultural and communication competence in children of migrants. The paper presents the author’s elective course “Russian Language Without Borders” for students of the sixth grade of secondary school, which is aimed at improving the socio-cultural and educational-cognitive competence of students. A lesson on the development of students’ speech, based on the novel by The Yakut author Viktoria Gabysheva “Karina. 12 days in the taiga” has been demonstrated. Based on the experiment conducted among the students of the 6th grade of secondary school No. 15 in Yakutsk, the authors came to the conclusion that it is essential to apply a systematic approach in the formation of the linguistic and socio-cultural competence of students.
