Formation of linguistic competence in basic school students using the project method

One of the leading tasks of teaching a foreign language is teaching language as a real and full-fledged means of intercultural communication, which presupposes the need to develop sociocultural and, in particular, linguistic competence in students. The article examines the current problem of developing linguistic and cultural competence among primary school students in the process of learning English. The authors analyzed the structure of linguistic and cultural competence, and also described the experience of developing this competence among 9th grade students through the organization of independent project activities of schoolchildren.
