The development of scientific communication skills when training international applicants to join the master’s degree programs in a Russian university

The study reviews the pivotal approaches to mastering the scientific language by foreign citizens, future philologists, applying for a Master’s degree in a Russian university. The author focuses on the problem of obtaining new knowledge in a foreign language environment against the background of dynamic sociocultural and communicative processes in modern scientific writing. By a case study of Preparatory School at Pushkin State Russian Language Institute, the research demonstrates the features of international students enrolled in the course in Training Non-Citizens to Join the Master’s Degree Programs (in Humanities) in the Russian language. Based on the research findings, the author developed recommendations for amending and complementing the course syllabus for the in-depth study of the professional language.
