Developing the vocational guidance skills of high school students through training

This paper presents the results of a study on the formation of vocational guidance skills among high school students. The sample consisted of 50 people and included tenth grade students. The study was carried out in 3 stages. The first of these examined the psychological characteristics of high school students' vocational guidance on their own. For the second, an 18-hour training program was implemented in the experimental subgroup. The third phase of the study assessed the effectiveness of the program using statistical processing methods. It was found that, as a result of the work carried out, the greatest changes in the subjects occurred in terms of professional identity status. Thus, the values of the “Undefined Identity” and “Moratorium” indicators decreased, while the values of the “Formed Identity” indicator increased. It is revealed that high school students consciously approach their future, have become more realistic in assessing their abilities to achieve professional goals. Statistically significant changes in the components of professional orientation and readiness were not found in this study.
