Development of future lawyers' essential qualities in the process of foreign language education

One of the main tasks of foreign language education to students of non-linguistic departments is to teach them how to read authentic materials for vocational purposes, acquiring the necessary information. Skimming is one of the important ways of teaching future experts in law who should be able to seek and analyze a large amount of information from various sources how to read without thorough comprehension. The basic characteristics and functions of authentic learning materials, a set of conditions and recommendations on the development of skills and abilities in skimming are presented as a result of generalization of the foreign and Russian pedagogical experience. The author believes that proposed types of students' learning activity promote the development of future lawyers' essential qualities and abilities which are necessary to perform their duties in a professional manner. Suggested practical tasks and some methodical recommendations on the development of corresponding skills and abilities in skimming are aimed at improving the process of teaching the foreign language to students of non-linguistic specialties.
