The paper discusses the problem of the formation of professional self-consciousness of students of pedagogical specialties. It is noted that professional self-awareness, as an integral part of personal self-consciousness, is a complex dynamic education that is formed under the influence of the professional environment and the active participation of a personality in professional activity. An important stage in the development of a person's self-awareness is the time of receiving professional education. The authors believe that the formation of professional self-awareness is facilitated by the involvement of students in volunteer activities. The concepts of volunteering and the experience of organizing student volunteering in the Republic of Buryatia are analyzed. The study presents a system of work on the formation of professional self-awareness of students, consisting of two stages: 1) training for volunteers; 2) participation of students in professionally oriented volunteer activities. The effectiveness of this work in the formation of cognitive, affective, behavioral components of professional self-awareness has been proved.
