The author analyses and develops the creative-oriented methodology of forming the professional competence of a foreign language teacher at an agricultural university. The aim of the study is to create the optimal method of forming the professional competence of a foreign language teacher in an agricultural university that would include the use of creative thinking. The author analyzes in detail the historical and theoretical aspects of the formation of professional competence of a foreign language teacher. The author has developed an algorithm and principles of formation of professional competence of a foreign language teacher in an agricultural higher education institution. The concept of creative and pedagogical competence and elements of its content is presented. The methodological algorithm presented by the author highlights in detail the possibilities of using creative thinking in practice. The subsequent actions of the teacher at improvement of the professional competence in the course of teaching a foreign language in an agricultural university are described. The algorithm is presented in the form of developing creative thinking as a technology and means of forming and improving the professional competence of a foreign language teacher at an agricultural university, which, in turn, is designed to develop and improve the professional and pedagogical skills of a young foreign language teacher in the most optimal way. This study is an attempt to develop an original technology based on the consideration of creative thinking as a basic methodological category and its introduction in the process of teaching foreign languages in non-language programs.
