The article deals with the topicality of the development of operational thinking of future economists and administrators in the process of foreign language training in higher education institutions. There are analyzed the requirements of the Russian Federation legislation in the sphere of education to the development of the operational thinking components of graduates. There are revealed the contradictory points between the contents of the Federal State Educational Standards, the potential of foreign language training of students with the use of the authentic materials and the absence of the complex researches of the subject.
