The problem of forming the cognitive independence of children of primary school age remains relevant for quite a long time. The article focuses on the formation of cognitive independence of primary school students in extracurricular activities, namely, when engaging the potential of educational robotics. Based on the analysis of scientific and pedagogical literature identified the structural components of cognitive independence of primary school students. The work also reflects the results of a review of scientific approaches to the content of the concept of “cognitive independence”. The possibility of forming cognitive independence of primary school children by organizing extracurricular classes in educational robotics using open-solution projects is discussed. Outlines the stages of an educational project and the results of observations of teamwork during educational robotics instruction using open-ended projects.
