The Functionality of the Electoral Culture of Russian Youth

The article examines the issues of electoral culture and the factors that determine the involvement of young people in the context of their participation in the electoral system. The author uses key ideas of political, sociological and cultural studies devoted to the examination of the youth electorate, identifying factors and ways to influence it, as well as the main results of behavioural research and concepts explaining electoral activity as a methodological basis for the analysis. According to the author, the indicators of electoral participation of Russian youth have increased significantly over the past few years, and the participation manifests itself mainly in a conventional form. The article reveals that non-standard approaches, such as interactive platforms, youth projects, gamification of the electoral process and cooperation with public organizations are desirable to enhance electoral culture. In general, effective systemic measures are needed to increase trust and legal literacy, and to create conditions for real participation in political life. Among other things, it is necessary to increase the potential of electoral culture in order to make the younger generation more aware of the ongoing processes in the life of the entire Russian society.
