The paper presents the results of an empirical study on gender differences in the manifestation of leadership qualities among employees of an insurance company. The differences found between men and women in the development and assessment of leadership qualities and skills indicate that the respondents are characterized by two different directions in leadership development. The corresponding skills, as well as the necessary qualities, are more developed in men than in women, which suggests that representatives of the stronger sex will act more effectively in leadership positions, especially since they are more willing to make efforts to occupy them. The paper's conclusions generally confirm the traditional gender beliefs that leadership qualities are mainly related to masculinity, and men consider themselves as potential leaders in various spheres of public life.
