The gender aspect of students’ professional self-determination

The relevance of the study is determined by the most important task of educational organizations to provide psychological and pedagogical support for students in the process of professional self-determination development. This paper is to review the professional self-determination issues of the high school students in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). The study describes the theoretical standpoints of Russian and foreign researchers on the subject matter. The research method is the analysis of a survey of 464 students from nine districts of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) considering the gender specificity. The questionnaire findings identify ways to improve the process of psychological and pedagogical support for professional self-determining of students in the region. The author proposes the effective modern career guidance for the high school students (career guidance workshop, quest project, mixed-age specialized lesson). The research findings will be useful for school teachers, professional self-determination and career choice researchers.
