Genetic potential of milk yield in Ayrshire cows and its implementation

Бесплатный доступ

The article presents the research results concerning the genetic potential of milk yield in Ayrshire cows and its implementation. It takes into account lactation (the 1st unfinished, the 1st finished, the 2nd, the 3rd and older) on four breeding farms. The efficiency of mothers’ and breeding bulls’ selection, the genetic potential of milk yield and its implementation on different farms (1, 2, 3, 4) has been determined. High indicators of genetic potential have been identified on all farms, but its implementation has differences and the lowest indicator is found on the 4th farms - from 65.6 to 76.0%. High genetic potential is not a guarantee of its effective implementation.
