The author argues with literary scholars who believe that the reason of the origin of the Western European Romanticism was a disappointment in the results of the French Revolution of the 18th century. Referring on the opinions of leading writers, scholars and philosophers of various times and nations, the author believes that the origins of the Romanticism and its similarities and differences of different countries are determined by the mentality of the Romance and Germanic peoples.
