Globalization and problems of cultural and national identity

The article underlines peculiar place of culture under modern conditions of dynamic changes and transformations in the world. It specifies that aggravated contradictions between countries and regions, caused by geopolitical ambitions of those aiming at global domination and those defending national sovereignty, respect to cultural singularity of different peoples, the culture obtains different objectives depending on interests and values of subjects in a globalized world. The author turns to phenomenon of mass culture that gaining more traits of "global consumer culture". The author addresses analyses of reasons of modern systemic crisis, above all cultural, represented in theory of social and cultural dynamics by P. A. Sorokin, his reveal of value principles of "sensuous" culture, oriented at ideals of consumer society. It is noted that the revival and flowering of national cultures can be perceived not as a clash of civilizations, but as harmony, but only if the interaction and complementarity of national cultures in the space diversity of civilizations and cultures of humanity.
