Guttural occlusive consonant in the Russian language sound history

The article is devoted to the problem which is scantily known and deficiently addressed in the linguistics - the problem of the historic significance of the guttural occlusive consonant for the evolution of Russian consonantism and vocalism. The articulatory - acoustic characteristics, the conditions for the guttural occlusive consonant in the modern Russian language were mostly studied and describes, but the question of the origin and the functioning history of this sound has not been raised. We do not know yet the role of the guttural occlusive consonant in the phonetic processes. Some facts in the Russian language sound history point at the functioning of the guttural occlusive consonant.
