The article considers the practical actions of the government of India focused on the modernization of the higher vocational education system. Both achievements and unresolved problems are analysed. Today both the Russian Federation and India face the similar problems in education under the present conditions, that is why the positive experience of higher vocational education modernization accumulated by India in the XXI century is extremely important.
