The territorial boundaries of the “Russian world” as a reflection of the geopolitical concepts of modern Russia

Nowadays the concept “Russian world” is a high-profile one among scholars. It also receives intense media coverage in the context of modern politics, geopolitics and migration studies. Despite that, it is hard to define the meaning of the concept. It could be considered as heterogenous groups of people, societies, sociocultural, political and geopolitical processes, etc. The set of these factors alters due to the historical and cultural context transformation, which results in “Russian world” being a concept. A way to interpret it is to reveal its territorial boundaries, as these define the concept’s meaning. The present article attempts to summarize and specify the scholars’ opinions regarding the matter in order to identify main ideas about the territorial boundaries of the “Russian world”.
