The study deals with the statistical indicators of the present-day immigration situation in the UK based on the analysis of data from the Office for National Statistics. The research reviews the regional specific nature of the ethnocultural diversity of the country through the prism of school reality and the impact on the resources of local education authorities. The indicators of teaching English as an additional language are characterized. The author identifies the factors associated with the student performance: the detection of special educational needs, switching schools, the implementation of the right to free school meals, the social situation in the area of residence. The emphasis is placed on the difficulties in integrating newcomers into the educational environment, considering the rules and requirements of the British education system caused by both the lack of the period of study and the enrollment of students in the class according to their age regardless of their educational experience. The research presents the personnel resource of the UK education system in relation to work with students being the representatives of ethnic minorities.
