Characteristics of online education in the framework of digital transformation

The present study is devoted to the analysis of the key characteristics of online education in the context of digital transformation. An attempt is made to consider digital transformation in educational institutions in the context of social innovations. The paper notes that online education is considered as part of social innovations that contribute to the creation of equal educational opportunities for all citizens, as well as access to high-quality educational content and a system of lifelong learning. It seems that universities should adapt educational processes in such a way that all students are better prepared to solve global problems from a digital point of view. Based on the results of the analysis, the author concludes that in order for online education to realize its potential in practice as an effective mechanism for the openness of education and, consequently, become a catalyst for change, it is necessary to pay more attention to the multicultural nature of modern society.
