Бесплатный доступ

This paper analyzes some foreign literary criticism works that deal with Chekhov's artistic axiology, emphasizing that some sources have been introduced into the context of Russian literary criticism for the first time. The evolution of the perception of Chekhov's works by foreign readers and literary scholars is traced from interpreting Chekhov as a writer, which embodied only Russian cultural values, to presenting him as a literary artist, whose works contain valuable and semantic potential that goes beyond the national culture. The conclusion is drawn that the focus of Chekhov scholars‘ attention is on the religious and moral aspect of his literary works.
