At the beginning of the 20th century, it was believed, that society was inevitably following the way of rational improving. But in the first half and in the middle of the 20th century, the Europeans had wondered the possibility of rational social progress. The question about the rational and irrational in people’s life became important. Together with this question, the special attention was paid to game phenomenon, which, unlike the utilitarian activity, combined all these differences harmonically. Among the most brilliant philosophers who suggested the advanced concept of the game from the position of irrationalism, was French writer, philosopher and sociologist Roger Kyua. The subject of the philosopher’s study is not only game, but instincts, which are in its base. Roger Kyua emphasizes four human instincts which form irrational base for its individual and social existence and each of them has four types of the game. Game, according to philosopher’s beliefs, has to give the person the possibility to realize better all following instincts, from the one hand, and from the other one, to protect the social order from the irrational and unpredictable influence. The most significant conclusion of the game philosophy by Roger Kyua is the statement that the value of rational social progress does not waste its power nowadays. But rational existence of the person is able to have progress only after his irrational life’s development. At least, only in this situation the progress can bring happiness to a person. But it will not be possible, if only the irrational sphere is limited by the frames of the game.
