It is noted that the athlete’s body is most ready for training loads during sensitive periods. It is pointed out that the issue of taking into account the individual characteristics of an athlete when developing specialized training programs during sensitive periods has not been sufficiently studied. The age limits of sensitive periods for track and field runners are determined, and the characteristics of physical development during these periods are analyzed. Physiological and psychological characteristics of athletes that affect the development of physical qualities at different age stages are identified. Examples of successful application of an individual approach in training track and field runners are considered. The principles and conditions for individualization of the training process for track and field runners are determined. It is concluded that an individual approach to training track and field runners during sensitive periods is a prerequisite for achieving high athletic results and revealing the potential of each athlete.
