The article is devoted to the problem of information approach in pedagogical research works. According to the abilities of the approach, its place in integrated knowledge theory and methodological significance, the key problems of informational approach usage in pedagogical research works are described, which help to determine its usage limits. Besides, the author of the article tries to ground and expose his own understanding of information model as a complex description of pedagogical object information characteristics with the help of the main functions of receiving, keeping, identifying, changing and passing information.
