The article considers the possibilities of information and educational environment for organizing the educational process that meets the needs of information society. The specifics of the new informational educational environment for teaching the language, formed as a result of informatization of society, are considered. Its pedagogical and methodological peculiarities are revealed. The didactic potential of the information and communication environment as a technological basis and an integral component of the modern teaching system is studied.
