Integrative approach as a means of effective vocational training of a music teacher

The paper discusses the use of an integrative approach to vocational training of a music teacher as one of the effective teaching techniques. The vocational education system meets new challenges in the context of society’s development. The first priority for teachers’ training universities is training professionals, in parti-cular music teachers. An integrative approach is a process represented by a correlation among all university subjects; this is a complex type of communication that helps acquire knowledge and generate personal and cultural meanings. The integration of theoretical knowledge results in new knowledge that has an interdisciplinary structure and combines the information of several subjects. The paper presents the integrative course entitled Fundamentals of Music Theory deve-loped and introduced by the author to test the effectiveness of the integrative approach when training music teachers-to-be. The students have been surveyed about this integrative course. The results show that this course has a positive impact on students and increases the effectiveness of music-teacher training.
