Intertextuality in family context: Karamayov's citing Shiller

The article is devoted to the discursive-linguistic analysis of the phenomenon of intertextuality on the example of the functioning of quotation and allusive borrowings from the works of F. Schiller in the artistic space of F.M. Dostoevsky's novel "The Brothers Karamazov". When reading the work, it is easy to find that all four Karamazovs show interest in the work of the classic of German romanticism and sporadically include extracts from his works in their speech parts. On the basis of this empirical observation, a hypothesis is expressed about the non-accidental nature of the appearance of Schiller's intertextualisms in the speech fabric of the titular characters and about the possibility of their individualized functional load in the text of the novel. A consistent analysis of the speech parties of the father and brothers Karamazov showed that the use of artistic and poetic elements borrowed from Schiller's texts in the verbal and communicative practice of family members is characterized by both the general features of their functioning and individually specific features that to a certain extent correspond to their socio-psychological and mental-linguistic type, subjective communicative strategy and pragmatic the intentionality of the speech utterance at this point in the unfolding of the plot. The observations made testify to the deep functional and symbolic harmony of Dostoevsky's artistic and textual substance, which contrasts with the long-noted external stylistic carelessness of his works and determines, in interaction with it, their unique linguistic colour.
