Engineering formulae for time constant definition

For simple one-dimensional problems of heat-transfer capacity the formulae enabling the approximate definition of the time constant of the thermal process without solving a transcendental equation were derived. The deduced formulae are good for preliminary calculation with usage of any calculator.
