Бесплатный доступ

We analyze Thomas Mann's tetralogy "Joseph and his Brothers", trying to define its genre more accurately. We have found several genre features of German exile novel. In particular, we can divide characters by their relation to the space. Jews and Egyptians are proved to have axiologically opposite worldviews. We analyze Joseph's place in this system of characters and how he must choose between these worldviews and values because of moving to Egypt. We define him as an emigrant character because of a number of features making him similar to the characters of German exile novel.
