The article reveals certain aspects of the interaction between art and socio-cultural activities; it highlights their differences in terms of their origins, essence, and nature, as well as the patterns of historical and cultural changes, scientific and theoretical foundations, etc.; emphasizes the commonality (special purpose, role in society, focus on the comprehensive and harmonious development of the individual). It provides historical and contemporary examples of the implementation of the potential of art and creative activities for the successful socialization of the growing generation, the formation of intercultural interaction among young people, etc.; attempts to study the resources of socio-cultural activity in relation to art from the perspective of meaning and content, impact on society and human life, and embodiment of social norms. In the context of the authors' consideration, artistry is particularly highlighted as a generalized characteristic that unites art and socio-cultural activities at the value-semantic level; it states that the interpretation of content is a determining factor and effect of direct or «reverse», positive or negative influence on the perception, cognition, and creativity of the growing generation; it outlines the significance of the interplay between art and socio-cultural activities for educational practice («one through the other»).
