The article deals with the methodological approach and technical capacity for thematic mapping in the field of territorial planning. Geoinformation technologies solve urgent problems of development of territories. The reliability of the original mapping information and the possibility of rapid manipulation of spatial data provide necessary conditions for the mapping experiment.
