The article deals with the results of researching the issue of the development of cognitive interest of senior preschool aged children in the process of children’s experimentation. There are defined the essence of the concept, the criteria and the indicators of the cognitive interest. There are presented the diagnostic tools for the diagnostics of children of senior preschool age, the research results having obtained with its help and the pedagogic conditions supporting the improvement of the efficiency of the work of the educator in the direction.
