Considering pedagogical forecasting (greek. “prognosis” - foresight, prediction) as a process of obtaining advanced information about the object, based on evidence-based provisions and methods, the author believes that the development of the most important competencies of future teachers requires a specially organized search activity. The most important elements of this activity are: to study the initial state of the studied object and its context of existence; identifying trends; determining criteria and norms for assessing the prospects of development of the object. A prerequisite for the successful development of pedagogical forecast is knowledge, the core of which is the history of pedagogy
