Historical and legal symbols: the concept, signs and functions

The relevance of the topic of the article is due to the insufficient general theoretical development of the concept of «legal symbols», which causes their ambiguous understanding. The article substantiates the need to identify a relatively independent group of historical and legal symbols as a variety of legal symbols. Their definition is formulated, general and special features and functions are distinguished. The author's concept complements the theory of legal symbols, contributes to the formation of a respectful attitude to the historical and legal heritage as a basis for the development of professional legal awareness.
