Excessive consumption: social risks and threats

This article is devoted to social risks and threats of excessive consumption, which deepens irrational consumer behavior in society. The spread of excess consumption is associated with various factors that carry risks and threats to society, including: the close relationship of owning a certain set of things and having a high social status; the focus of the meaning of life on acquisition; the unwillingness of the individual to stop consuming; the desire to be and behave like everyone else, to be like others; the desire to match idols; willingness to accept the opinion of authority without critical reflection; psychological negative experiences due to the scarcity of certain things; stimulation of consumption by marketing tools.
