The study of parental ideas about availability of high-quality general education: sociological aspect

In modern researches on availability of high-quality general education, two main approaches to solving issues related to ensuring equality of educational opportunities are formulated: social-democratic, which involves the implementation of the dominant paternalistic function at all stages of the educational process by the state, and liberal, in which it is considered sufficient to ensure equal conditions of competition only by the right to enroll in a particular educational organization. The existing tendency to expand the number of subjects of managerial activity in the field of education determines the need to involve participants in educational relations not only in the development of concrete practical solutions in this area, but also to their substantive justification. In this regard, it is advisable to identify how these participants interpret the concept of accessibility of high-quality general education, which priority areas of its improvement are singled out for themselves. During the survey of parents of students of schools in Murmansk region as one of the key groups of participants in relations in the field of education, their commitment to the social-democratic approach was revealed, which is of an extra-age nature, with rare exceptions.
