The phenomenon of education fever in higher vocational education systems of a number of East Asian countries from the perspective of the competency-based approach

Over the next decade, the Russian higher vocational education system will face the problem of a sharp increase in the number of applicants due to the demographic boom in the birth rate. In this regard, it is advisable to study the consequences of the phenomenon of education fever that has arisen in a number of East Asian countries. Despite the numerous studies on education fever as a multi-disciplinary phenomenon originated from the national philosophy, history, sociology, psychology, and economics of these countries, there has not yet been an attempt to review this phenomenon from the standpoint of the competency-based approach. The competency-based approach makes it possible to identify axiological and educational components that should be considered when predicting the effects of a sharply increasing demand for higher education from the public, including the Russian one.
