Effective technologies the cultivation for eastern goat’s rue in the conditions of the European North of Russia

The article summarizes the results of scientific research of the NWNIIMLPH on the development of technologies for growing eastern goat’s rue (Galega orientalis L.) in single-species and mixed crops for 1991- 2016. The conducted studies made it possible to establish that growing goat’s rue in the conditions of the European North of Russia is an effective way to improve the forage production system. Coverless crops of goat’s rue and goat’s rue mixed with cereal grasses over 9 years of use provided up to 386 c/ha of green mass, up to 7.9 t/ha of dry matter. When sowing goat’s rue with red clover, the productivity of grass mixtures was obtained at the level of 6.7-7.1 t/ha DM, which corresponds to single-species sowings of goat’s rue. A reliable increase of 0.9-1.0 t/ha of DM was obtained from grass mixtures of galega with red clover and meadow fescue. Eastern galega mixed with meadow fescue can be successfully used for strip sowing when improving pastures. The yield of the improved pasture in terms of dry matter output was 6.5 t/ha. When creating pasture grass stands, good results of 3.5 t/ha of dry matter with a crude 15.6% protein content of in 1 kg of DM are provided by sowing galega mixed with meadow fescue, timothy grass and meadow clover.
