Pilot testing of the model for developing professional and significant qualities of future marine specialists

The paper presents the empirical research results in a representative sample of future mid-level marine specialists. The study focuses on the development of professional and significant qualities of future marine specialists in view of the capacity of the differentiated approach to arranging the academic process of marine specialists in the system of secondary vocational education. The purpose of the study is to develop and test the educational model for marine specialists in the system of secondary vocational education based on the differentiated approach to arranging the academic process aimed at developing professional and significant qualities in future marine specialists. The criteria and indicators which reflect different levels of professional and significant qualities development and the groups of students with different academic achievements are determined with the help of diagnostic tools and the mechanism devised by the author to implement the integral external criterion. Pilot testing results showed the effectiveness of this educational model for developing professional and significant qualities in future marine specialists as a component of personal readiness for professional activity when the pilot groups demonstrated better academic achievements compared to control groups.
