Experimental study of the efficiency of nationally-oriented methodology in teaching Russian to Chinese students

This article presents the results of a pedagogical experiment dedicated to testing the effectiveness of a nationally oriented methodology for teaching Russian grammar to Chinese in Russian universities, which takes into account Chinese linguodidactic traditions and uses the native language of students. The grammatical topics “Verbs of motion” and “Verb species” were chosen to compose the experimental materials, which, according to the research methodologists and foreign students, are the most difficult ones and require explanation in Chinese. The aim of the study was to test the efficiency of the nationally-oriented methodology of teaching Russian as a foreign language. The results of the experiment showed that educational materials with Chinese comments on grammar rules, examples with Chinese translations for understanding the rules, translations of task statements and translations of new words optimize the teaching of Russian grammar to Chinese students in the Russian language environment. It is concluded that the creation of educational materials, taking into account the national linguistic and methodological traditions, the native language and culture of students, is an important way to implement a nationally oriented approach and optimize the teaching of the Russian language to foreigners in the Russian language environment, including Chinese students.
