The article deals with the topical issues of development of the multicultural foreign-language competence of future specialists in the course of English language study in a higher school. The author considers the reasons of the crisis in education, emphasizes the importance of the communicative focus of the foreign language study. The author believes that the applied technologies of foreign language teaching do not reflect sufficiently the figurative and metaphorical conceptual culture-forming potential of the language knowledge. On the basis of the experimental research results, the paper presents the model and the educational module of the multicultural foreign-language competence development of future specialists in social and cultural service and tourism.
