The paper presents the results of experimental studies of tribological parameters functional coatings of power hydraulic cylinders, the coefficient of friction and wear resistance in particular. The relevance of the work is in improvement of efficiency, reliability and durability of power hydraulic cylinders, as well as in development of technologies and materials in the field of tribology. Special certified equipment was used to obtain data of the experiments. A graphical interpretation of the friction coefficient dependence on the type of coating and operating conditions of hydraulic cylinders is obtained. A quantitative study of standard and composite coatings wear is presented. The conclusion of the study is that chromiumbased composite coating demonstrates higher wear resistance compared to other coatings applied to working surfaces of hydraulic cylinder rods.
